Quickstart
Connect your first server, deploy a service and schedule a job in about five minutes.
You’ll need a Linux server you can SSH into (any VPS works) with Docker Engine 24 or newer, and a Fwoop workspace. The free plan covers up to three servers.
1. Connect a server
In the dashboard, open Servers → Connect server. Copy the command it shows; it contains a one-time token for your workspace. Run it on the server:
$ curl -fsSL https://get.fwoop.dev | sh -s -- --token $FWOOP_TOKEN --labels role=web
✓ Installed fwoop-agent 2.3.1 (linux/amd64)
✓ Registered as web-01 in workspace acme
✓ Connected to the control plane over TLS 1.3
The server appears in the dashboard a few seconds later, with its health and the role=web label.
2. Install the CLI
The CLI runs on your laptop or in CI. It talks to the control plane, never directly to your servers.
$ curl -fsSL https://get.fwoop.dev/cli | sh
$ fwoop login
Opening your browser to sign in…
✓ Signed in to workspace acme
3. Deploy a service
In a folder with a compose.yaml, deploy it to every server labelled role=web:
$ fwoop deploy hello --target role=web
→ Creating release r1 from compose.yaml
→ web-01 pulled nginxdemos/hello:latest
→ web-01 healthy in 2.2s
✓ r1 is live on 1 server
Run it again after changing the file and Fwoop creates release r2, rolls it out and keeps r1 ready for a rollback.
4. Schedule a job
Add a job that runs every night at 03:00 on one healthy role=web server:
$ fwoop jobs create cleanup --schedule "0 3 * * *" --target role=web --command "find /tmp -mtime +1 -delete"
✓ Created job cleanup · next run tomorrow 03:00 (UTC)
Next steps
- Turn on backups for anything with data.
- Set up alerts so failures reach someone.
- Move configuration into fwoop.yaml so it’s reviewed like code.
